things i do instead of being productive
i have a folder on my phone called "important" and it's mostly blurry pictures of cats, screenshots of conversations that made me laugh, and a chair i saw on the street once.
the chair was really good though.
i like walking around with headphones on and pretending i'm going somewhere specific. usually i'm not. sometimes i end up buying a drink i didn't want just because i feel awkward leaving a little shop empty-handed.
i also love looking through people's bookshelves. not in a creepy way. okay, maybe a little. i think you can learn a lot about someone from the books they've clearly never finished.
i keep telling myself i'll become one of those people who wake up early, drink water, and have matching towels.
hasn't happened yet.
if you know how to become a functional adult without turning into a boring person, please let me know. i'm collecting evidence.
to someone i haven't met yet
dear whoever,
this is a slightly embarrassing way to meet someone, isn't it?
you're sitting somewhere in the world, i'm sitting somewhere else, and somehow we've ended up looking at the same little corner of the internet.
what's something you miss that doesn't exist anymore? when was the last time you laughed so hard you couldn't explain why? do you ever walk past a stranger and invent an entire life for them?
you don't have to answer all that. god, imagine getting an interview just for saying hello.
i guess what i'm trying to say is that i like the unexpected part of meeting someone. before you know their habits, their stories, their terrible jokes.
we could be complete opposites. that might actually be fun.
anyway, the door's open.
love,
prue
p.s. please tell me you also have that one chair covered in clothes.
notes app, 02:43 am
things i need to remember:
buy batteries. not sure for what anymore.
stop telling people "i'll be there in five minutes" when i'm literally still looking for socks.
find out who decided that olives were food.
that little bookstore with the green door. go back there. the woman working there looked like she knew something.
maybe cut my hair? absolutely not. maybe.
there's a particular shade of blue that makes me feel like i've forgotten something important. need to investigate.
call someone just to ask how they're doing. without needing anything.
stop buying notebooks. USE THE NOTEBOOKS.
i'd like to spend an entire afternoon somewhere with no internet. preferably near water. preferably with someone who doesn't ask why i'm being quiet.
also, remember that guy with the yellow umbrella? i think he was crying.
anyway.
buy batteries.
seriously this time.
the prue constitution
ARTICLE I.
Nobody is allowed to make fun of my music taste until they've survived a full shuffle session. Most people don't.
ARTICLE II.
If we're walking somewhere and you see a cat, you are legally required to inform me. Failure to comply may result in immediate disappointment.
ARTICLE III.
Bad movies are sometimes better than good movies. Especially when watched with the right person and extremely cheap snacks.
ARTICLE IV.
You may steal one french fry from my plate. The second one requires negotiations.
ARTICLE V.
Being a little strange is not a crime. Being cruel for entertainment probably should be.
ARTICLE VI.
A good conversation may begin with absolutely anything, including a conspiracy theory about why hotel carpets look like that.
FINAL AMENDMENT:
All rules are subject to change without notice, particularly when i'm hungry.
Signed,
